Discover Presque Isle 2010:
It is a go again
for 2010. This will be our 4th year, in that time we have placed a bow and
arrow in the hands of approximately 4500 people of all ages and physical/mental
abilities.
We combine a
NASP style instruction with 3D, traditional, and fun targets as well as having
certified instructors on hand from NAA, NASP, and Boy/Girl Scouts.
Discover Presque
Isle is a fund raiser for Presque Isle State park in Erie, PA that allows the
Presque Isle Partnership to assist or fund much needed park projects, such as
the playground. With the recent cutbacks in funding for PA DCNR the mission of
Presque Isle Partnership has become more critical in keeping Presque Isle able
to attract more visitors each year than Yellowstone.
Highlander
Archery is proud of this use of archery to help everyone who enjoys Presque
Isle State Park throughout the year. We are also proud of the fact that, since
this archery event has been added to Discover Presque Isle, archery hunters on
the park during the special hunt have increased in number. Although we cannot
draw a direct correlation between our event and the increase in hunter
participation at the park, we do believe that public awareness of archery
hunting as well as the perception that archers are welcome at the park has had
a positive effect on the deer management goals of Presque Isle State Park.
